The back story: Glacier National Park is 1,583 square miles of wilderness area established in 1910 along the Rocky Mountains in northern Montana. Among more than 700 miles of hiking trails the park is known for its pristine forests, alpine meadows, rugged mountains, and breath taking lakes. The park is well known for its glacial peaks and wildlife such as mountain goats, sheep, elk, lions and bears.
